The unique shape, the handle placement and the totally awesome silver stopper make this decanter a delight to behold.    We know that the piece was done by skilled cutters on an excellent blank.  The cutting is precise, deep and very well-polished; the blank is water-white and quite clear.  The design, with three, 4-inch, 24-rayed sunbursts enhances the shape of the blank.  The sunbursts have 1 1/4-inch clear, concave 'bulls-eye' centers making 'picture windows' that show the design on the other side of the decanter.

The decanter is heavy for its size, has a maximum diameter of 4 1/2-inches and stands 11 1/2-inches tall with the stopper.  We do not know if the stopper was 'born with the decanter' as it has been re-pegged.  Regardless, the repousse work is of the finest quality and accentuates the round, bulbous shape of the upper decanter.  The double-notched handle is perfectly annealed; the base has a deeply-cut 24-point hobstar.  The condition is extremely fine and there is no internal discoloration or cloudiness.  A beautiful and unique decanter for your collection.
