Dorflinger No.48 Blank, Two-Quart Jug
FSG1679
Condition: BTEF
Price: $975.00
This magnificent and stately two-quart jug is cut in an unknown design on a Dorflinger No.48 blank. The clear, colorless, best-metal blank has an eye-appealing shape that is a delight to behold. The cutting is very deep and completely wheel-polished to a mirror-like brilliance. The jug has been iin our personal collection for seven years and remains unidentified despite having been viewed by several well-qualified 'ID experts.' The perfectly-attached handle may be a clue as to the jug's cutting house: the cutting on the handle, while typical of Dorflinger in style, is the same as on an early "Baker's Gothic" jug by T.B. Clark & Co. of nearby Honesdale, PA. If you check the photos of our FSG2227, they will show you the design that is on both handles.
The jug stands 10 1/4-inches tall, has a maximum diameter of 6-inches and weighs 5-lbs. 15-oz. The base has a 24-point hobstar with an 8-point, clear-button hobstar in its center. Regardless of lacking a design name and cutting house, this is an outstanding jug that displays to advantage.
Another very carefully selected piece of American Brilliant cut glass.
