Description:

American Brilliant cut glass footed cake plates are one of the most difficult shapes to acquire.  This one has a 6-inch diameter foot, stands 7 1/2-inches tall and has an 8 5/8-inch top diameter.  At 4.9-lbs., it is a heavy piece for its size.  The cutting is quite precise, relatively deep and is polished to a fiery brilliance; the blank is very clear and colorless.  Judging by the color and quality of the blown blank and the design -- especially the hobstar on the foot -- we suspect that the piece was made by the Pairpoint Corporation.  The design does not show in either of the Pairpoint catalogs, however.  It also does not show in either the Avila or the Padgett information.

The cake plate is in extremely fine condition.  A rare shape that is easy to look at and displays beautifully.
