Description:

Kelly & Steinman of Honesdale, PA was not a large or well-known cutting house but they produced some of the finest glass of the American Brilliant Period.  We know more about the company because of their ca.1904 to 1914 trade ads that are reprinted in LABAC's Cut Glass Advertisements Book Three.  (Information regarding LABAC is available on our website under the 'Identifying Glass' tab.)

This footed, handled mayonnaise (or ice tub) was cut in the Kelly & Steinman "Raleigh" design.  The design is deeply and precisely-cut on a crystal clear, colorless blank of Dorflinger quality -- definitely a best-metal blank.  The cutting is completely wood-wheel polished to a mirror-like brilliance.  The triple-notched handles are perfectly attached and the base has a deeply-cut, 24-point hobstar.  The piece stands 5-inches tall, has a maximum diameter of 6 1/2-inches, measures 10-inches handle-to-handle and weighs a heavy-for-its-size 4 1/4-lbs.  This is a finely-crafted and eye-appealing piece of American Brilliant cut glass that displays to advantage.
