Deep Purple-to-Clear Rhine Wine
FSG2507
Condition: BTEF
Price: $250.00
Deep purple-cut-to-clear -- a very intense color that is rarely seen. Val Saint Lambert created this Rhine wine that stands 7 5/8-inches tall and has a top diameter of 2 7/8-inches. Page 130 of J. Michael Pearson's book, "Encyclopedia of American Cut & Engraved Glass, Vol. III" shows two of these wines, one in 'cranberry' and the other in 'blue.' They are labeled "Rhine Wines"...in Arcadia-type design." Collectors thought these wines were of American origin for years; however, relative recent catalog information proved they were made by Val Saint Lambert.
The wine is expertly-cut on an excellent blank and the scalloped base has a 16-point hobstar. The cutting is deep and very well polished.
