The RARE McDonald Design
FSG3071
Condition: BTEF
Price: $225.00
A pitcher cut in T.G. Hawkes "McDonald" design is shown on the front cover of the September 2009 Hobstar, the journal of the American Cut Glass Association. A four-page article by Verle Davison explains the relationship between the "McDonald" design and the "Russian" design -- the Dorothy Daniels misidentification of the "McDonald" design -- and the discovery of thirty-six pieces of "McDonald" by Warren & Teddie Biden. A copy of the September 2009 Hobstar article will be sent with this piece if you are not a member of the ACGA.
The finger bowl is 5-inches in diameter and stands 3-inches tall. The design is very precisely cut and completely wheel-polished to a mirror-like brilliance on a clear, colorless blank. The base is cut in design and the top rim is original. A very well-crafted piece of American Brilliant cut glass that is a true rarity, has historic significance and displays to advantage.
