Price: $1,250.00

Description:

This fine American Brilliant cut glass jug was cut by J.D. Bergen & Co. of Meriden, CT.  Page BGN-104 in LABAC's Cut Glass Advertisements Book One shows a cologne cut in the same design as this jug; the design name is "Novar."  The ad is reprinted from a 4/14/09 jeweler's circular--weekly.  The sterling silver top has a touchmark that appears to be that of the Adelphi Silverplate Co., formerly John Schimpf & Sons of New York, NY.  It is also touchmarked 'sterling 925/1000.'  Both the sterling and the glass are very well-crafted.  The jug stands 8 3/4-inches tall and has a maximum diameter of 5 1/4-inches; the double-notched handle is perfectly attached.  The blank is clear and very water-white.  This is a handsome jug that displays to advantage.
