Description:

..... or is it a nappy or perhaps something else?  Howard Blair tried to tell us at this year's ACGA Convention that, regardless of what it is called, it is an outstanding piece of American Brilliant cut glass!  The cutting is very deep, quite fine (close together) and completely wheel-polished to a mirror-like brilliance.  The piece is very heavy for its size.  Judging from the overall quality of this piece and from the way the fans are cut (miters through the bottom of the teeth), it is a pre-1896 piece.  It measures 5 1/2-inches square and stands 2-inches tall.

We are unable to identify the cutting house or design name.  We do have a large bread tray (FSG3377) in the same design; it is cut on a Libbey blank.  Both pieces are beautiful, well-crafted items that deserve a name.  We are offering a $50.00 website credit for a proper identification of either piece.  Please let us know.........
