It's the blank! Not only the shape but the quality of the glass itself. T.B. Clark of Honesdale, PA located just a few miles from Dorflinger & Sons' glass factory in White Mills, PA so as to have easy access to Dorflinger blanks. Dorflinger's best metal was then -- and is now -- considered to be the best metal for cutting American Brilliant cut glass. When a cutting house combines the aptly-described, clear, colorless blanks with deep, brilliantly-polished cutting, the results are spectacular!
This 12 1/4-inch tall, 4 3/4-lb. vase has a top and base diameter of 5 1/2-inches; the waist narrows to 2 1/2-inches giving emphasis to the flared-out top and base. The wafer foot has a deeply-cut, 24-point hobstar. The vase is cut in Clark's "Camelia" design as shown in the Clark 1905 catalog (page 46 of the ACGA reprint catalog).
