  • Signed Libbey 'Corena' Whiskey Jug - FSG3161

  • Signed Libbey
  • $1,350.00

  • “Corena”  is a rare and desirable design that was created by W.C. Anderson for the Libbey Glass Co.  and is shown on page 121 of ‘Chain of Evidence, Observations on the Life and Work of William C. Anderson’ (by Leigh Emmerson and the Anderson Study Group).

The specific design motifs W.C. Anderson used for the “Corena”  design include:  flashed bubble edges on flower petals, odd number of petals and veins in the petals, sprigs, plain-button hobstars, crosshatched fields adjacent to plain-button hobstars, flashing, and fine miter crossing the flashing.  Four panels of realistic ‘bubble flowers’ are framed by crossing bars of hobstars and deeply-cut, flashed miters.  The over-all effect is a stunning display of Anderson’s talents as a designer.

The jug stands 8-inches tall with the stopper, has a maximum diameter of 5-inches and weighs 3-lbs. 15-oz.  The base has a 24-point radiant star and the flat of the perfectly-attached handle has the Libbey signature.  The design is very well-crafted on a clear, water-white blank that is heavy for its size.  The fiery polish of the geometric cutting contrasts beautifully with the matte finish of the realistic flower design.  A truly delightful piece that displays beautifully and will be a wonderful addition to your collection.  The piece is in better than extremely fine condition as described on the website.
